What to Do Before & After Meals for Better Digestion and Wellness

Come on friends, today we will talk about what should be done after eating and what not.  If you think that you will remain fit only by eating healthy food, then wait a bit!  Whatever we do before and after eating also has a huge impact on our health.  So let's go, with the help of Dr.  Hansa ji , we know some important things.

Fruit affair: Everything is a timing of the fruit!

Yes brother, fruits are healthy, but they should not be eaten immediately after eating them.  Why?  Because fruits are digested quickly.  If you eat them after a heavy meal, they will ferment in your stomach and produce gas.  Moreover, fruits contain more sugar, which makes digestion even more difficult.

so what should we do? 

  • Eat fruits as a snack, in between two meals
  • Eat fruits 2 hours before or 2 hours after meals
  • Eating fruits in the morning is the best

Discussion on tea: Wait a bit, have patience!

 Many people start drinking tea immediately after eating food.  But wait!  This habit is not good for health.  Regular milk tea contains tannins which increase acidity.  If you have eaten protein, this acid will make it even harder to digest.

Then what should we do? 🤔 Drink tea 1-2 hours after eating

  • If you can't live without tea, try green tea
  • Or else, drink tea before eating

Water story: Don't gulp, sip!

 Many people drink a lot of water while eating or in between eating food.  But this is wrong friends!  By doing this the digestive juices present in the stomach get diluted.  These juices are very important to break the craving for food.

 then what should we do?  - Drink water half an hour before eating

  • Or, drink water 1.5-2 hours after eating
  • If you have to drink water immediately (like taking medicine), then drink lukewarm water
  • I have a habit of drinking water in between meals  ?  Take small sips slowly

Bathing: wait a little friend!

 It is not right to take bath immediately after eating food.  Why?  Because the body needs energy and blood flow for digestion.  When you take bath with cold water, body temperature decreases and blood starts flowing towards the skin.  Due to this the digestion becomes slow.

Then what should we do? 🤔

Take a bath before eating

Or else, take a bath 1 hour after eating

If it is necessary to take a bath immediately, then take a bath with lukewarm water

Loss of sleep: Think before sleeping!

 It is not right to go to sleep or sit immediately after eating food.  Due to this the digestion slows down and gas can form in the stomach.  When you get up, your stomach will feel full and uncomfortable.

  •  then what should we do?  
  • Sleep 2 hours after dinner
  • Walk a little after lunch, at least 400 steps
  • If you have to take an afternoon nap, lie down on your left side.  This improves digestion

Now some more tips that will help you:

1. Take rest:

  • Wear loose and comfortable clothes, especially after eating
  • Tight clothes can cause acid reflux

2. Yoga:

  • Lunch  After that sit in Vajrasana or any meditative pose
  • If you have to sit on a chair then keep your legs up and spine straight
  • Try to sit in these poses while eating also, this will prevent overeating

3. Calm mind, healthy body:

  • After that, practice nishpandama
  • Close your eyes and listen to the sounds around you
  • Try not to let any thoughts come to your mind

4. Relax, enjoy:

  • After walking a little, lie down in shavasana
  • This relaxation technique will help in digestion
  • This will also increase energy levels

5. The magic of mindful eating:

  • Eat  Stay away from phone or TV during the time
  • Eat food quietly and carefully
  • Eat every bite well
  • Remember, "Food is Brahman" - Respect food

So friends, these are some simple but important tips which you will definitely remember  Will improve your health.  Remember, not only what you ate, but how you ate is also equally important.  By paying attention to these small things, you can make your life more energetic, enthusiastic and happy.
