Dinacharya: Ayurvedic way to make your day perfect

In today's hectic life, we have lost our connection with nature. But do you know that we have a 5000 year old wisdom that tells us the secret to making our day perfect? Yes, I am talking about Dinacharya - a priceless gift of Ayurveda that can organize your life naturally.

Dinacharya:Nature's Time Table

What is Dinacharya? In simple terms, it is your personal time manager who stays in sync with the rhythm of nature. In Sanskrit, 'Dina' means day and 'charya' means routine. It helps in balancing the three important elements of our body - Vata, Pitta, and Kapha (called doshas).

Let's see what is most beneficial to do at what time:

Morning Routine (6 AM - 10 AM: Kapha Time)

Morning time is ruled by Kapha. This is the time when you should be energetic.

Here's your morning checklist:

1. Wake up before sunrise

When you wake up before sunrise, your mind becomes crystal clear. Why is that so? Because at this time there is sattvik energy in the environment. When I go out at 5:30-6:00 it is difficult to wake up, but once you make it a habit, you will be impressed by its results!

2. Magic of hot water

As soon as you wake up from bed, first of all drink a glass of hot water. This is the healthiest way to say "Good Morning" to your digestive system. Imagine that this water is flushing out the toxins from your body, just like a pipe cleaner.

3. Cleaning of sense organs

  • Brush your teeth
  • Wash your face and eyes
  • Make sure to do tongue scraping - it also improves your mood!
  • Try oil pulling (gargle with sesame or coconut oil)

4. Power of exercise

Now is the time to energize the body. Choose any exercise that you like:

  • Surya Namaskar (perfect morning exercise)
  • Morning walk (connection with nature)
  • Light stretching
  • Yoga poses

Remember, the goal of exercise is to boost energy, not to get exhausted!

5. Time to freshen up

  • Take a refreshing shower
  • Wear clean, comfortable clothes
  • Do 10-15 minutes of meditation or pranayama

6. Breakfast - Important Meal of the Day

Have a hot and nutritious breakfast. Some options:

  • Daliya or oatmeal
  • Fresh fruits with nuts
  • Warm herbal tea
  • Homemade smoothies

Dopahar Ka Routine (10 AM - 2 PM: Pitta Time)

This is the most productive time of the day. Pitta dosha remains active, which gives focus and clarity.

1. Work Smart

Hold important meetings

Do creative work

Complete decision making tasks

Use maximum brain power

2. Perfect time for lunch

Have lunch between 12-1 PM. This is the time when your digestive fire (Agni) is strongest. Pay attention to:

  • Have a balanced meal
  • Include all tastes (sweet, sour, salty, bitter, spicy)
  • Prefer fresh cooked food
  • Eat food mindfully, not in a hurry

3. Post Lunch Walk

After eating, take a light walk for 10-15 minutes. This improves digestion and prevents afternoon slump.

Afternoon to Evening (2 PM - 6 PM: Vata Time)

Vata time is the time for creativity. But energy can be a little low.

1. Recharge Time

  • You can take a short power nap (20 minutes)
  • Engage in light activities
  • Avoid heavy work

2. Creative Time

  • Explore art or music
  • Do writing or reading
  • Work on new ideas
  • Do learning activities

3. Nature Connection

  • Spend some time outside
  • Do deep breathing exercises
  • Do light stretching
  • Have casual conversations with friends

4. Tea Time

  • Enjoy Tulsi tea or herbal tea
  • Take light healthy snacks
  • Take a mindful break

Evening Routine (6 PM - 10 PM: Kapha Time)

Evening is the time to relax the body and mind.

 1. Light Dinner

  • Complete your dinner by 7 PM
  • Eat light and easily digestible food
  • Avoid heavy, oily, spicy food
  • Wait for 2-3 hours after dinner before sleeping

2. Family Time

  • Spend time with loved ones
  • Enjoy light entertainment
  • Maintain a Gratitude journal
  • Listen to soothing music

3. Self-Care Time

  • Oil massage (especially on head or feet)
  • Dim the lights
  • Wear comfortable clothes
  • Create a relaxing environment

Night Routine (10 PM - 2 AM: Pitta Time)

This is the time for body repair.

 Sleep Priority

  • Go to sleep by 10 PM
  • Switch off your phone and laptop
  • Keep the room temperature comfortable
  • Sleep in a dark room

Body Repair

This is the time when the body:

  • Toxins are processed
  • Cells are repaired
  • Mental restoration takes place
  • Deep healing takes place

Early Morning (2 AM - 6 AM: Vata Time)

Vata time is the time for spiritual connection.
