Hey brothers, today's topic is very important.We all want to keep ourselves happy, right?  We want there to be peace, happiness and satisfaction in our life.  But in today's world it is becoming difficult to keep all this.  And the biggest reason for this is dopamine addiction.

What is dopamine?  

Dopamine is a chemical that our brain releases whenever we do something that is important for our survival. For example, when we eat food or have another activity, dopamine is released and we feel happy.This is a natural process through which our evolution has taken place.

But the problem is here

Today's companies and apps have made this dopamine release a habit for us. Their aim is just that we continue to use their products and services continuously. Scrolling through Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube, playing video games, eating junk food.

 Because all these things also release dopamine. And as we use them more, the level of dopamine increases. Then our body tries to maintain that level. Result? We become addicted to all these things.

 Real Life Example

I myself was very addicted to social media and digital entertainment. I used to browse on mobile for 6-7 hours every day. YouTube, Netflix, Instagram - this was all that kept going on in a loop. On one hand productivity had reduced, on the other hand I was not getting satisfaction even from myself.

But then I thought of doing a dopamine detox. For 7 days, I tried to keep myself away from everything that released dopamine in my brain.

 Here are the rules:

  • No social media at all
  • No digital entertainment like TV, Netflix, YouTube
  • Only healthy food, no junk/processed items
  • Only drinking water
  • No alcohol, smoking, porn or music
  • How was this going?

In the beginning it seemed very boring. But slowly the benefits started becoming visible.

 Due to less distractions I became more focused. My concentration improved everywhere – in meetings, in editing, in coding. Productivity has increased a lot.

 Then I started spending time on my hobbies – drone flying, photography, walking/exercise etc. Bhai these things made me feel so alive!

 Another benefit was that I started meditating and doing breathing exercises. Earlier I never got time to do all this. After detox I realise how much peace of mind I get from this.

 I used to feel bored at night too, but who cares! I used to chat with my friends/family, play games and sometimes even watch movies.

 The biggest thing is that my thought process has become organized.

Earlier, I used to think about others all the time. Insta posts and stories of other people, new shows on Netflix, latest movies etc.

But after this detox I felt distanced from everything. My mind was now more aware of what was happening in my real life. Present is main. And here there is real joy and satisfaction.

Moral Of The Story

This 7 day dopamine detox showed me how many useless things we are wasting our time on. We have to control ourselves by avoiding excess consumption.

Once you distance yourself from those constant dopamine hits, you start being in control. Increases your productivity, focus, and overall motivation in your life.

How to detox dopamine for take a control of your life and be happy?

So why don't you try a dopamine detox?,Here are tips on how to get started:

  1. The first step is to identify whether there is dopamine addiction in your life. What are those things you do everyday that give you dopamine (social media, Netflix, video games, eating junk, porn etc.)?
  2.  Next decide which things you will avoid for 7 days. It is difficult to avoid everything, so start with 2-3 items that are most addictive.
  3. Then simply set your rules – no X, Y, Z for next 7 days. Simple!
  4.  And now start your detox. You will see how much productivity will increase by reducing distractions. Substitute useless things with healthy hobbies/habits. You will get more time for meditation, exercise, meeting friends/family.
  5.  Review after 7 days to see what benefits you got. Feel free to extend the detox and cover new areas if it worked well.

How to detox from social media?

After seeing this picture you will understand how to stay away from social media. Look at the routine given in this and apply it in your life. Staying away from social media is very difficult because I have suffer from this, but after adopting this technique, today I have been successful in achieving my aim of staying away from social media, so you should also apply it.
